Our guest today is Carrina Bradbury who has many qualifications that include being a qualified social worker, a family therapist, a clinical hypnotherapist and a doula.
All of this expertise is put to good use when Carrina takes her Beer + Bubs program to the pub in locations right across Australia. Beer + Bubs is a one-night session at the pub where expectant dads learn how to best support their partner up to and following the birth of their child. The combination of the location, the one or two glasses of amber fluid and being surrounded by other men in similar circumstances has proven to be a winner for the program.
Beer + Bubs works in conjunction with the usual ante-natal programs run by hospitals for expectant parents but the difference is that the boys only arrangement allows the men to feel free to ask the questions they really want to find out about that they might feel uncomfortable asking in the hospital environment where the sessions are primarily aimed at the mothers.
It is fun for us to find out a little of what men go through when their partners are enduring the normal vaginal birth or the Caesarean section. There is always a stream of emotions and these might include not knowing where to stand or what to say at the critical moment. Carrina has three children herself in addition to her extensive experience working with families so she knows the questions to expect, none of which will in any way disturb her.

Carrina Bradbury is the owner of Beer+Bubs across Australia. Formerly their Bunbury Presenter, Carrina is a Doula and Childbirth Educator in addition to a Social worker, Family Therapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist.
As a mum of three, Carrina’s passion for pregnancy and birth began as a personal one before she added this to her professional repertoire. She is passionate about the role of men in all aspects of family life, and sees pregnancy and birth as the ultimate time to engage men in their important roles.
