With special guest:
Lisa Heim
… in conversation with Bill Kable and Ken Thompson
A check in the index of topics will reveal that we have explored parental alienation from different angles by talking to academics, psychologists and researchers. Today we cross to Florida in the USA to hear a very real account of what this type of psychological child abuse looks like to those who are personally caught up in it.
Lisa Heim is the author of Protecting Emilie and in this book she tells the story of what happens to people catapulted into this nightmare world of parental alienation, something that could happen to you, your neighbour or parents on the other side of the world. Lisa gives an account of her relationship with her husband, his daughter Emilie, in the title of the book, and her own daughter, as it was affected by the conflict instigated by Emilie’s mother.
What makes it worse is that the authorities did nothing to protect the important relationship between father and child or to protect Emilie from the worst excesses of her out-of-control mother. So it was left to Lisa to do what she could out of her genuine love and concern for Emilie and her husband.
Despite Lisa doing all that she could, really above and beyond what could be expected, Emilie went from innocent child to being suicidal. The marriage between Lisa and Emilie’s father was put under so much strain it eventually ruptured but Lisa is a survivor and she wants the world to know what happened.
Lisa is a warm, genuine person with a story that must be told if we are going to stop this damage to our children in the USA, in Australia, New Zealand, England or other countries where you may have a link. Getting to know Lisa is a pleasure as we hear this story from the frontline.
Lisa Heim
This is the first published book by Lisa Heim. When her own family began, she intended to write a book about the joy and love of motherhood but did not finish this project. After her direct experience with parental alienation Lisa had a real purpose in writing so she began her research on the topic leading to Protecting Emilie. Lisa feels that after delving into the truth the reader will advocate the cause of ridding the world of this danger to our children and their innocent parents. You can read more on Lisa’s blog.
